Firebug equivalent for IE

I've been using Firebug for "debugging" web pages for a while now. I came across a sort of equivalent for IE - the IE Developer toolbar. Update: see below for IE 8 and above.

It's not quite as slick. I turned on the outlining of DIV elements and it spent the next half hour putting flickering boxes all over the screen until I killed IE. I won't do that again. At least IE7 remembers what was on each tab.

Update: This is by far and away my most popular blog post. So I figured I ought to update it for IE 8 and 9: IE 8 and 9 has built in developer tools, which look as good as firebug, though I haven't looked in depth. Press F12 to find them.

Shameless plug: Are you a Christian web developer? Why not work for Wycliffe? or find out more about IT in Wycliffe.

Shameless plug 2: You can find good answers to HTML, CSS and Javascript questions at stackoverflow.com, or webmaster type questions at webmasters.stackexchange.com.

I'm with the first poster, Atheist developer. Religion divides us enough already, do we need to divide coders by religion as well?

Someone who sympathises with the aims of the organisation they work for is more likely to work harder than someone who disagrees.

Also, a lot of positions aren't paid, so there's not even a financial incentive. A lot of our volunteers get money from churches and I haven't heard that the atheist equivalents have a lot of money to spare.

God doesnt need anything from us. He doesnt even need our worship because he's God. However we need God to ensure we do right hopefully being rewarded for it after death.

Obviously Athiests dont believe this and think theres nothing after death....which means injustices remain unpunished...and all our good work is for nothing...in which case why bother living? Why suffer injustices and pains in life? I may as well end mine now. Who will care about us in the end?

Religion unites people. It's some that dont have religion that like to divide people by pointing their finger at religion. No religion teaches evil. It's men themselves that do that - some under the cover of religion unfortunately. Some people just need to open their eyes a little and stop making 'smart' comments and respect others beliefs, just as we all want to be respected.
